Material possessions were a funny thing. Everyone seemed to want them, for one reason or another. Aidan had always had very little use for them. There were six medium sized boxes sitting near the door. Three of them were clothing, part of which was wrestling gear. The seventh was sitting in front of her, and as she laid the Tough as Nails Title carefully on top of the packing paper to buffer it from the rest, her entire life was packed away. It had taken less than three hours.

The packing tape shrieked as she sealed up the most precious box of them all. It was deposited with the rest. Turning, she looked over the place. It was spotless, everything as it should be. There was no trace of her but for the missing glass from the set on the counter, the one she had thrown and broken not long ago. That, and the piece of paper there. Taking a deep breath, she steeled herself and walked over to it.

It was still blank, the pen sitting next to it, waiting. She had to close her eyes for a few moments before she picked it up. She wasn't sure what she was going to write, but the moment the pen touched the paper, the words flowed all on their own.

“Thanks for letting me stay for a while. I felt like it was time for me to go. This should cover the rent. Don't try to give it back, I won't take it.”

There was nothing more that needed said. She reached into the lining of her jacket and withdrew the stacks of bills. More than enough to cover the rent for the time she had stayed there. More than enough to cover the expense of having hunted down the title belt those months ago. She would have no debts left unsettled.

Finally, she turned for the door. There was a moving dolly waiting in the hall and she stacked the boxes on it. It would take two trips, but she didn't care. There was a small rented moving van waiting at the curb so she could take the boxes over to Paul's place and store them in the basement. She hadn't told him why, and he hadn't asked. There would be no explanations.
